Thank your favorite nurse during Nurses Week 2016!
11 May

There is no arguing nurses are a crucial part of the healthcare system and this week is dedicated to them.  This year National Nurses Week is May 5-12, a week to celebrate, honor and thank the special nurses in our lives.

Hospitals and doctor offices often spend the week hosting breakfasts and lunches in their nurse’s honor and gifting their employees with chachkies and trinkets like mugs, key chains, pens and tote bags.

Consumers Place High Value on Uniforms

When I visit my doctor each year, I am always impressed with her appearance. Not only does she wear stylish clothes, her lab coat always looks impeccable. It is reassuring that my doctor always looks clean and professional, despite seeing many patients each day and a busy surgery schedule.

Environmental Services Role in Preventing Infection

When you think of how many departments there are in a single hospital it’s easy to see how having a successful Infectious control program can be a difficult one to maintain. Each department has to work as a single unit to make sure the success is something that is ongoing and part of their day to day obligations.

Two of the biggest factors in the success of such a program are Communication and Collaboration. It starts from the top and goes all the way down.

Understanding the Young Healthcare Consumer
13 Apr

Finn Partners surveyed 1,000 adults to understand the healthcare habits of young Americans.  Being a proud Millennial myself, I know the popular stigma related to my generation of adults ages 18-33.  People often associate Millennial’s with being non-committal, job hoppers who use the web to shop for everything from clothes to groceries and receive their news via social media.  These assumptions are mirrored in the results collected from the Finn Partners survey.

Changes in Health Care

As a kid, the entire family went to the same doctor, whose practice was in a very small medical building. The receptionist was the same woman, and he had one nurse. When my father was having a heart attack, on a weekend, my mom was able to reach the doctor.  We didn’t have health insurance, and his office would work out a payment plan.

Enhancing the Patient Experience Through Empathy
30 Mar

We all are familiar with the saying “it’s not what you say, but how you say it”.  How a patient hears news about their prognosis is vital to making sure they have a clear understanding of their treatment plan and helps to promote trust.  Hospitals cannot improve their HCAHPS scores if they cannot improve communication skills between patients and their providers.

Patient’s Wish List
16 Mar

Most of us do not realize the challenges faced by patients who are admitted into a hospital.  Many times basic things we take for granted can be taken away from the patient due to specific rules created by the facility. This can range from simple things such as choosing when to go to bed, when to get up and having complete privacy when performing daily activities.

Nurses Rank Highest in Ethics and Honesty
02 Mar

I am sure most people would not be surprised to learn that nurses ranked as the most honest and ethical profession for the 14th straight year. In fact, nurses rank 17 percentage points higher above any other profession, according to the most recent Gallup poll.

Specialty Hospitals - They put the “Hospitality” into the word “Hospital”
24 Feb

It’s pretty simple folks. If someone were to ask you “what types of facilities do you think score the highest in Patient Satisfaction Scores?” what would your answer be? If you answered Specialty Hospitals then you would be Correct!

PatientSecure palm scanning technology

A woman, we’ll call Hilda, dials 911. When the paramedics arrive, they decide she needs to be taken to the hospital.  The neighbor helps find her driver’s license and social security card for admitting records.  Hilda isn’t able to speak any more when she arrives at the hospital.  After being admitted as a “Jane Doe”, her husband and neighbor arrive at the hospital.
