The styles were selected, photos were taken, and the layout and editing are complete! Before we go to print we must now design and finalize one of the most important parts of the Scrub Catalog – the cover. After all, the cover is what entices customers to open the catalog in the first place. While the idea of creating a cover sounds a lot easier than creating a whole catalog, the process itself take sometimes take just as long!

What song should you sing at Karaoke? What Gemstone are you? What celebrity cat are you? The most popular quiz — “Which State Do You Actually Belong In?” — has generated about 41 million page views. We have all seen the Buzzfeed Quizzes and have been intrigued to take them. Experts say the phenomenon isn’t surprising given the age-old fascination with that central question — “Who AM I?” — and a desire to compare ourselves with others in a social media-obsessed society.

Just when we thought there were enough antibiotic-resistant bacteria out there, along comes the new kid on the block -- Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae or CRE. This drug-resistant germ is spreading throughout U.S. healthcare facilities, occurring in people receiving significant medical care. CRE is usually transmitted from person-to-person, often on the hands of health care employees*.

Is a scrub vending machine right for your healthcare facility?
05 Aug

“Walking a tightrope” - the term used by a laundry in Ohio describing the pros and cons of scrub vending machines being used to manage scrub loss and control.

While some hospitals are all for the use of scrub vending machines to manage their scrub uniforms, there are even more out there who say the cost is too high. When you factor in the cost of the actual scrub vending machine and weigh it against the actual scrub loss without one, the math speaks for itself.

Scrub repurposing by Fashion Seal Healthcare®

Welcome to Part 2 of the series "How to repurpose scrubs”. In Part one, we showed you how to turn a scrub top into a pint-sized kids skirt. Today we are going to spice things up in the kitchen with a fun bib apron design. Because the fabric used for scrubs wears and washes well, an apron is a great way to give a scrub top a second life! This happens to be a more feminine print, but the style of the garment would work well for anyone.

Virtual Healthcare Technology

The days of scheduling an appointment and waiting days or even weeks to see a doctor are coming to an end. With the progressive strides being made in healthcare technology, it is only a matter of time before the once considered “science fiction” idea of virtual health care becomes a viable option for the average consumer.

Cutting costs in health care
08 Jul

I don’t know about you but every time I get a raise, the news will rain on my parade with the cost of something going up.  Increasing costs are a fact of life, especially with insurance premiums, deductibles and prescription drugs.

How do you beat the high cost of living?  If I had that answer, I would be living the life of the Fiat commercial, “it’s not the size of your car, but the size of your yacht”. Here are six tips you can use now to save on your health care costs:

How does your state rank overall in terms of long term care?

When the thought of retirement comes to mind, most contemplate if they’ll retire in their current state of residency or move to a more appealing locale. More than likely, that decision is based on where someone’s family is located or what the area has to offer in terms of weather or activities. Before you pack your bags for afternoon tee times in a popular retirement state like Florida, you might want to evaluate the state’s long term care performance.

When you think of the people who care for you during a stay at a hospital it is often doctors and nurses that come to mind. However, there is a different form of comfort that can be given by a unique visitor that you may see walking the halls next time you visit a healthcare facility. Therapy dogs are becoming increasingly popular among acute facilities, nursing homes and hospices. Since the end of World War II, the use of therapy dogs has been considered a value-added approach to improve the spirits of patients and their experience.

Think back to your most recent visit to a hospital or doctor’s office. Did the nurse who took your pulse and blood pressure wash her hands before touching you?  How often are his or her scrubs laundered and sanitized?

I received a call from one of our salesmen the other day.  He asked, “Do we make any ugly scrubs for any of our customers?”

“Say again.”

I’ve been working in the customer service department for over 14 years, and it seems like there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t learn something new.
