The Ever Changing World of Healthcare

I recently visited a Doctor’s office that for years had been independently owned and operated by a group of physicians. They were recently acquired by a very large hospital in Ohio. The changes were quite radical and it took quite a while for the staff to get acclimated with the new computer system and all of the new procedures that this hospital implemented. Of course this is to be expected when changes are made in protocol and systems that the staff had been used to and used for years prior. The same could be said with any changes that affect a job or a schedule that we are used to.

If you spend any time in the Healthcare market it is hard to not hear about a merger, acquisition or newly formed alliance between hospitals. The general public may not notice or even hear about such events, but this realignment in healthcare, according to a recent study from the American Hospital Association (AHA), is benefiting their communities by “retaining vital services.”
