Scrub repurposing by Fashion Seal Healthcare®
29 Jul

Welcome to Part 2 of the series "How to repurpose scrubs”. In Part one, we showed you how to turn a scrub top into a pint-sized kids skirt. Today we are going to spice things up in the kitchen with a fun bib apron design. Because the fabric used for scrubs wears and washes well, an apron is a great way to give a scrub top a second life! This happens to be a more feminine print, but the style of the garment would work well for anyone.

Nursing scrubs new trend – Flight attendant uniforms?
15 Jul

A hospital in China’s Jiangsu province is testing a pilot uniform program in an effort to improve the patient experience by training nurses to offer a flight experience in the hospital. Nurses were trained by “real air hostesses” and wear uniforms similar to a flight attendant, but with a slightly longer skirt for modesty. Interesting pilot program – no pun intended.

I was sitting in a casual dining burger restaurant, a few weeks ago, getting lunch with a customer and in walks several doctors and nurses from a nearby medical center. I knew that they were doctors and nurses because they were all wearing jade green surgical scrubs and had their name tags clipped to them. I didn’t think much about it, until they all walked up to the “fixins” bar and started getting their toppings for their burgers.

As fabrics and styles continue to evolve, they have a direct impact on the apparel and uniforms used in the healthcare industry. In today’s ever changing healthcare environment, it is necessary for scrub manufacturers to constantly research, develop and introduce new innovative fabrics and styles for laundries and healthcare facilities. These new concepts will not only help reduce energy costs, but also add life to the products and appeal to style-minded employees.

Anyone remember when a 100% polyester garment implied scratchy and sweaty?  At the risk of aging myself, I do but times sure have changed.  The results of my informal wear-test of the 100 percent FashionPoly™ scrub top from Fashion Seal Healthcare® were overwhelmingly positive.

FashionPoly™ - 100 percent polyester scrubs

This past weekend I was going to play golf and realizing it was 92 plus degrees outside, I wanted to make sure I was wearing a shirt that I would be comfortable in. Just a few years ago, the shirt of choice would have been a 100 percent cotton shirt. Cotton being the fabric of choice as it was always comfortable and cool in hot unbearable temperatures. This time I reached for the only type of golf shirt I now have in my closet, a 100 percent polyester shirt.

Germs Being Spread Through Healthcare Uniforms
05 Nov

It seems today that everywhere we go; whether it is the grocery store, movie theatre, restaurant, doctor’s office or the mall, we are seeing sterile cleanser dispensers all over the place.  Fighting the spread of germs is on everyone’s mind these days and doing whatever we can to combat this battle is the main game plan.  In fact, I am willing to bet that many of us carry a small personal size sterile cleanser in our briefcase, purse or car.  Bottom line - we are willing to take steps to stop the spread of germs.  So if this is the case, why do we not think the same way when it comes to lea

Scrubs - Then & Now

Being an avid watcher of the television shows ER, Scrubs and Grey’s Anatomy made me feel like I should be wearing scrubs all the time!!! They were so comfortable looking and certainly hide a lot of body issues you might have. It’s made me wonder, how did scrubs get started?
