Healthcare Brands Engaging Patients through Social Media

Healthcare Social Media

Social media is making a big splash in the healthcare industry by making it easier for healthcare brands to communicate with current and potential patients.

The newest additional to the social media stream is Pinterest.  Pinterest allows you to educate, showcase and humanize your healthcare brand.  Many healthcare brands have not even tapped into the potential Pinterest offers to engage and inform your communities.

Interesting Pinterest Facts:
1.  Pinterest in now home to 70 million users, an increase of 20 million since February 2013.
2.  Demographic of the average Pinterest user:  women, adults under 50, whites, those with some college education
3.  Average time spent on Pinterest per visit:  14.2 minutes
4.  Average user time spend on Pinterest per month:  98 minutes
5.  Number of Pinterest users that have connected their accounts to Facebook:  9 million

Pinterest is an ideal platform to share relevant content visually! Create boards based on topics that are important to your communities.  By creating visually interesting pictures, infographics or education materials, you will be able to engage your community and position your healthcare brand as a subject matter expert.

See how HCF Management, who provides skilled nursing care, rehab care and assisted living, is using Pinterest to further grow their social media community:

Showcase:  Pinterest offers a centralized location for you to showcase your healthcare brand.
•    Recognize Amazing Work:  Showcase your employees going above and beyond the call of duty at work.  This encourages great performance and boosts employee morale.
•    Create a Community for Your Patients:  MassGeneral Hospital for Children has a board dedicated to "Special Visits".  This board allows the hospital to boost morale amongst its patients by capturing special visits through-out the hospital, whether it is from Santa, Professional Athletes or a special family member.  This board allows patients to engage with each other and share their experiences with your hospital.

Humanize:  Put a face with the name!  Showcase your healthcare brand with all of the employees that make it possible.  Be a resource to put your patients as ease - create tours of the facility, videos on procedures to put patients at ease, the list can go on and on!

What are you waiting for?  Get started with Pinterest today and watch your healthcare brand grow as you engage your community of patients.
